The BALAX 12426-000 is a thread forming tap designed for producing internal 12-24 UNC threads in ductile metals without cutting. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material to create threads, resulting in stronger thread forms and no chip generation. This plug chamfer tap is ground to H6 thread limit with a bright uncoated finish and is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS). It measures 2.375 inches overall length with a 0.22-inch shank diameter and is suited for through-hole threading applications. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production shop operators install this tap in hand tap handles or machine tapping chucks.
