The BALAX 12225-010 is a thread forming tap in the BXOTL series, designed for cutting 10-32 UNF internal threads in blind holes. Unlike cutting taps, this forming tap displaces material rather than removing chips, producing stronger threads with better surface finish. It is made from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and carries a 2B class of fit with an H5 thread limit. The bottoming chamfer - 1.5 thread pitches - allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. Machinists and tool and die technicians use this tap in precision blind-hole applications where thread integrity and dimensional consistency are critical.

The 12225-010 is suited for blind hole threading in materials that respond well to thread forming, such as softer steels, aluminum, and other ductile metals.
