The BALAX 12082-010 is a thread forming STI tap designed for cutting 10-24 UNC internal threads in steel insert applications. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than removing it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. This tap features a bottoming chamfer, making it suitable for threading to the bottom of blind holes. It is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and carries an H2 thread limit for controlled thread tolerance. Overall length is 2.5 inches, with a 1-inch thread length and a shank diameter of 0.255 inches.
