The BALAX 10122-010 is a thread forming tap designed to cut 1-64 UNC threads in blind hole applications. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than cut it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. This tap is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and carries an H2 thread limit for close tolerance control. It is suited for use in soft to medium-hardness metals and is installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance trades needing precise small-diameter internal threads in bottoming configurations.

This tap is used in blind hole threading where the full thread must extend close to the bottom of the hole.
