The AU-VE-CO PRODUCTS 24183 is a hex head, hex drive sheet metal screw designed for securing sheet metal panels and light-gauge metal components in HVAC, electrical, and general mechanical applications. Manufactured from steel, this fastener features an M4.2 thread diameter and a 20mm length. The Type A and Type AB point geometry allows the screw to cut its own thread path into sheet metal without a pre-tapped hole, reducing labor time in the field. A hex head drive provides positive wrench engagement for consistent torque and reduced cam-out. This screw is sold in minimum order quantities of 50 pieces per package.
This screw is commonly used by HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, and electricians when fastening ductwork sections, electrical enclosures, equipment panels, and access doors. The hex drive is compatible with standard 1/4-inch nut drivers and hex bit drivers, making it practical for both hand tools and power drivers. The Type AB point is suited for thicker sheet metal gauges where a coarser thread advance is beneficial, while the Type A point works well in lighter-gauge applications.
Designed as a general-purpose sheet metal fastener for use with light-to-medium gauge steel panels, ductwork, electrical enclosures, and equipment housings in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical trade applications.
Installation is performed with a 1/4-inch hex nut driver, hex socket, or hex bit driver. Power down and de-energize any electrical enclosure or equipment before fastening panels. Avoid over-driving, as excessive torque can strip the self-cut thread in thin sheet metal. Follow applicable local codes and manufacturer guidelines when fastening ductwork or electrical enclosures.
