The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 205-606 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and other high-cycle tooling applications. Manufactured from chromium alloy steel, this spring features a trapezoidal wire cross-section that maximizes load-bearing capacity within a compact envelope. It carries a Strong duty rating and delivers a maximum deflection load of 959.48 pounds (4268 N) with a free length of 1.5 inches (38 mm). The red color coding identifies the Strong duty class per ISO 10243 standards, making it straightforward to identify and replace in the field. Tool and die makers, press technicians, and maintenance machinists are the primary installers.
This die spring is designed for use in metal stamping and forming tooling where consistent, high-load spring force is required over extended cycling. A rod diameter of 16 mm and a hole diameter of 32 mm define the mounting envelope. With a travel to solid load of 11 mm, this spring suits applications requiring controlled compression within a tight die set. The Strong duty classification makes it appropriate for heavy blanking, drawing, and forming operations where lighter-duty springs would fatigue prematurely.
Conforms to ISO 10243 standards for die springs. Designed as a standard-spec replacement or new-build component for stamping dies, punch presses, and forming tooling that use 32 mm hole diameter and 16 mm rod diameter Strong-duty die springs.
Die spring installation and replacement is performed by qualified tool and die makers or press maintenance technicians. Always de-energize and lock out the press before accessing the die set. Ensure the spring seat surfaces are clean, flat, and free of burrs to prevent uneven load distribution. Do not compress a die spring beyond its rated travel to solid, as over-compression accelerates fatigue failure.
