The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 205-418 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and industrial tooling applications. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers a Strong duty rating with a maximum deflection load of 302.14 pounds (1344 N). The free length is 4.5 inches (115 mm), and the spring accommodates up to 1.38 inches (35 mm) of travel to solid load. The red color coding identifies the Strong duty class per ISO 10243 standards. Licensed trades and tooling technicians specify this spring when cyclic compressive loads demand consistent force across the full deflection range.
This die spring is suited for installation in progressive dies, forming dies, stripper plates, and similar press tooling where controlled spring force and repeatable deflection are critical. The trapezoidal wire geometry increases load capacity relative to round-wire springs of the same envelope size, making it well-suited for high-load, space-constrained tooling cavities. It fits standard spring pockets and rod-guided assemblies common in metal stamping and fabrication environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit die spring for standard ISO 10243 spring pockets with a 20 mm hole diameter and 10 mm rod diameter in industrial stamping and press tooling assemblies.
Die springs of this type are installed by toolmakers and press maintenance technicians during die build or rebuild operations. Always relieve all press tonnage and lock out the press ram before removing or installing die springs. Inspect the spring pocket and guide rod for wear, scoring, or misalignment prior to installation, as side loading will accelerate fatigue failure. Follow the tooling engineer's deflection specifications and do not compress the spring beyond its rated travel-to-solid value.
