The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 204-414 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and industrial tooling applications. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, it delivers consistent force and fatigue resistance under repeated compression cycles. With a free length of 3.5 inches (89 mm), a rod diameter of 10 mm, and a maximum deflection of 33 mm, this spring handles demanding die work where standard round-wire springs fall short. The blue color coding indicates its load classification, allowing for quick identification during tooling setup and maintenance. Installation and replacement are handled by tool and die makers and industrial maintenance technicians.
This die spring is suited for use in stamping, forming, and metal fabrication dies in both production shop and job shop environments. The trapezoidal wire shape increases the amount of active material per unit volume compared to round wire springs, resulting in a higher spring rate and longer service life at equivalent deflection levels. It fits over a 10 mm guide rod and seats in a hole diameter of 20 mm, making it compatible with standard metric die spring pocket configurations. Its ISO 10243 rating supports use in tooling designed to international standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit die spring for stamping and forming dies using a 20 mm hole diameter and 10 mm guide rod per ISO 10243 metric die spring specifications.
Die springs of this type are installed by tool and die makers or industrial maintenance personnel during die build or repair. De-energize and lock out all press equipment before removing or seating springs. Verify that the guide rod diameter and pocket hole diameter match the spring dimensions before installation. Do not exceed the rated maximum deflection of 33 mm, as over-compression accelerates fatigue failure and can cause premature spring breakage.
