The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 203-840 is a light-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and tooling applications where controlled, repeatable compression force is required. Built from chromium alloy steel, this spring features a trapezoidal wire cross-section that delivers higher load capacity per unit of space compared to standard round-wire springs. It carries a 10-inch free length, a 1.969-inch rod diameter, and a 1.969-inch hole diameter, making it a directly measurable fit for standard die set configurations. The green color coding identifies the light-duty load range per ISO 10243. Toolmakers and die maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This spring is suited for light-duty tooling applications in metal stamping, forming, and press die assemblies. It is designed for use where a 50 mm hole diameter and 25 mm rod diameter are standard, and where up to 102 mm of travel to solid load is required. The green color band identifies it within the ISO 10243 classification system, allowing technicians to quickly verify load class during die assembly or maintenance without measuring individual coils.
Designed as an ISO 10243-compliant light-duty die spring for use in standard stamping die sets, punch press tooling, and forming dies that accept a 50 mm hole diameter and 25 mm rod diameter spring seat configuration.
Die springs are installed by toolmakers or die maintenance technicians as part of die set assembly or refurbishment. Before replacing a spring, de-energize and lock out the press per applicable machine safety procedures. Inspect the rod and hole seats for wear or burrs that could cause uneven loading or accelerated spring fatigue. Never compress a die spring beyond its rated travel-to-solid dimension, as overcompression will shorten service life significantly.
