The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 106-740 is a heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and industrial tooling applications. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire shape, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 1,680 pounds and a spring rate of 710 pounds per inch. The green color coding indicates a light-to-medium duty load class per standard die spring classifications. With a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter, 3/4 inch rod diameter, and 10 inch free length, it is sized for use in tooling assemblies where controlled, repeatable compression force is required. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians are the typical installers.
This spring is used in industrial die sets, mold bases, and mechanical press tooling where consistent spring pressure and long cycle life are required. The 2.5 inch maximum deflection and 1,680 pound maximum deflection load make it suitable for medium-load stamping and forming applications. The trapezoidal wire profile increases coil density compared to round wire, allowing higher load capacity within a compact envelope. It is appropriate for both OEM die builds and aftermarket tooling maintenance across light manufacturing and metal fabrication operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit die spring for industrial stamping dies, punch press tooling, and mold base assemblies requiring a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter, 3/4 inch rod diameter, and 10 inch free length with a green load rating.
Die springs are typically installed and replaced by tool-and-die makers or industrial maintenance technicians. Before servicing a die set or press tooling, de-energize and lock out the press per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the mating pocket and guide rod for wear, burrs, or misalignment before seating the new spring, as these conditions accelerate fatigue. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 2.5 inches during installation or operation.
