The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 105-522 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and other high-cycle tooling applications. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section that increases load capacity and fatigue life compared to round-wire springs of the same envelope size. The spring has a 1 inch hole diameter, a 1/2 inch rod diameter, and a free length of 5.5 inches. It carries a maximum deflection load of 475.2 pounds at a maximum deflection of 1.65 inches, with a spring rate of 288 pounds per inch. The gold color coding identifies this as a heavy-load series spring per standard die spring classification. Toolmakers, die setters, and maintenance machinists are the primary installers.
This spring is suited for industrial press tooling, injection mold components, and fixture applications where consistent, repeatable force is required over extended production runs. The chromium alloy steel construction provides resistance to fatigue and set under repeated compression cycles. Gold-coded die springs in this size range are commonly found in medium-to-large stamping dies and progressive die assemblies used in metal fabrication and automotive component manufacturing.
Designed as a standard-format die spring for use in stamping dies, punch presses, molds, and tooling fixtures that accept a 1 inch hole diameter and 1/2 inch guide rod, with a 5.5 inch free length envelope.
Die spring installation and replacement should be performed by qualified toolmakers or die maintenance personnel with the press or machine fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Never compress a die spring beyond its rated maximum deflection, as overcompression causes permanent set and rapid fatigue failure. Inspect the guide rod and bore for wear or burrs before installation, as surface damage accelerates spring wear. Springs should be replaced in matched sets within a die station to maintain balanced load distribution.
