The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 104-616 is a medium heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, press tooling, and other industrial compression applications. It features a 1-1/4 inch hole diameter, a 5/8 inch rod diameter, and a 4 inch free length. The trapezoidal wire profile delivers a higher load capacity in a compact cross-section compared to round wire springs of the same envelope size. Rated at a maximum deflection load of 544.6 pounds with a maximum deflection of 1.48 inches, this spring is built for high-cycle tooling environments where consistent force and fatigue resistance are critical. Toolmakers and die maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This die spring is suited for press tool and stamping die applications in manufacturing and fabrication environments. The red color coding indicates medium heavy-duty duty rating per ISO 10243 industry convention, making visual identification of spring rate straightforward during die setup and maintenance. With a spring rate of 381 pounds per inch, it provides firm, predictable resistance across its deflection range. It is appropriate for both new die builds and replacement of worn springs in existing tooling where matching hole diameter, rod diameter, and free length specifications are confirmed.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement die spring for tooling applications requiring a 1-1/4 inch hole diameter, 5/8 inch rod diameter, and 4 inch free length in a medium heavy-duty red-series specification.
Die springs are installed and replaced by toolmakers or die maintenance technicians during scheduled die service or after fatigue failure inspection. Always de-energize and lock out the press before accessing the die set. Confirm hole diameter, rod diameter, free length, and duty rating against the existing spring or die drawing before installation. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated maximum deflection to avoid overstressing the spring and reducing service life.
