The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 104-508 is a medium heavy-duty die spring rated for demanding tooling and press applications. It features a 1-inch hole diameter, a 0.5-inch rod diameter, and a 2-inch free length. The trapezoidal wire shape delivers a higher spring rate compared to round-wire designs, with a rated spring rate of 400 pounds per inch. Maximum deflection load reaches 296 pounds at a maximum deflection of 0.74 inches. Constructed from chromium alloy steel, this spring is built for repeated compression cycles in high-load environments. It is color-coded red per ISO die spring standards for quick duty-rating identification in the field.
This spring is suited for use in stamping dies, injection molds, punch presses, and other industrial tooling applications where controlled force and consistent return are required. The medium heavy-duty red classification makes it a common choice for applications requiring more force than a light-duty spring but without the full stroke limitation of a heavy-duty unit. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians install this spring during die builds, tooling repairs, and press maintenance operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build component for standard die spring applications using a 1-inch hole diameter and 0.5-inch rod diameter pocket, conforming to ISO die spring dimensional standards.
Die springs should be installed by qualified tool and die makers or maintenance technicians familiar with press and mold tooling. Always relieve all mechanical and hydraulic pressure from the press or mold before removing or installing springs. Do not exceed the rated maximum deflection of 0.74 inches, as over-compression will shorten spring service life and may cause failure. Inspect the spring pocket and guide rod for wear or misalignment before installation.
