The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 103-407 is a medium-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, punch press tooling, and similar industrial applications where consistent, repeatable spring force is required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 154 pounds over a maximum deflection of 0.88 inches. The blue color coding identifies it as a medium-duty unit per standard die spring classification. Licensed tool and die makers, press operators, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this component.
This spring is suited for use in metal stamping dies, injection mold tooling, and precision fixtures where controlled compression force is critical. The 0.75-inch hole diameter accepts a 0.375-inch rod, and the 1.75-inch free length fits common die set cavities and guide pin assemblies. It is appropriate for both light production tooling and higher-cycle industrial press applications where dimensional consistency matters.
Designed as a standard medium-duty die spring replacement for tooling applications requiring a 0.75-inch hole diameter, 0.375-inch rod diameter, and 1.75-inch free length per ISO and ANSI die spring dimensional standards.
Installation is typically performed by tool and die technicians during die assembly or maintenance. Always relieve all press pressure and lock out the press before removing or replacing die springs. Inspect the mating pocket bore and guide rod for wear or damage before seating the new spring. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection, as over-compression causes rapid fatigue and premature failure.
