The ASHLAND WATER GROUP SPC-150 is a plastic inline check valve designed to prevent backflow in residential sump pump discharge lines. It installs directly in the discharge piping of pedestal or submersible sump pumps and uses a one-way valve mechanism to stop water from draining back into the sump pit when the pump shuts off. Preventing backflow reduces pump cycling, extends motor life, and keeps the pit from refilling with already-discharged water. The SPC-150 accepts both 1-1/4 inch and 1-1/2 inch discharge connections, making it compatible with the two most common residential sump pump outlet sizes.
The SPC-150 is suited for residential basement and crawlspace drainage systems. It fits pedestal sump pumps and submersible sump pumps equipped with 1-1/4 inch or 1-1/2 inch discharge outlets. Plumbers and sump pump service technicians install this valve as part of new sump system installations or as a replacement on existing systems where the original check valve has failed or is absent. It is sold in a package quantity of 10 units, making it a practical stocking item for service contractors.
Fits pedestal and submersible sump pumps with 1-1/4 inch or 1-1/2 inch discharge outlets. Designed as a direct inline replacement for standard residential sump pump check valves on systems using either discharge size.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or experienced sump pump technician. Disconnect power to the sump pump before beginning any work on the discharge piping. The valve must be oriented with the flow arrow pointing away from the pump in the direction of discharge. Solvent-weld or slip connections should follow local plumbing code requirements, and the system should be tested by running the pump through a full cycle before closing up the installation area.
