The ASHLAND WATER GROUP IC150NL is a 1.5-inch yellow brass insert coupling designed to join two plastic pipes in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. Featuring barbed ends for a secure mechanical connection, this fitting slides into the pipe bore and grips from the inside, eliminating the need for threaded or soldered joints at the connection point. The IC150NL complies with lead-free laws, making it suitable for use in potable water systems where current plumbing codes apply. Plumbers and pipefitters working on PEX, polyethylene, or similar flexible plastic supply lines will find this fitting a reliable, code-compliant choice.
This insert coupling is used in potable water supply lines, irrigation laterals, and general-purpose plastic pipe assemblies. The barbed insert design is well suited to residential water service repairs, mobile home plumbing, and agricultural drip or low-pressure irrigation systems where plastic pipe is the primary distribution material. Sold in a package of three, it is a practical stocking item for service trucks and plumbing supply inventory. The lead-free yellow brass construction meets the requirements of state and federal lead-free plumbing laws for fixtures and fittings in contact with drinking water.
Designed as an OEM-style insert fitting for use with standard 1.5-inch plastic pipe, including flexible polyethylene and similar plastic pipe used in residential and irrigation plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting pipe and inserting the fitting. The barbed end should be fully seated into the pipe bore; use an appropriate hose clamp or crimp ring over the pipe at each barbed end to secure the joint per the pipe manufacturer and code requirements. Do not exceed the rated working pressure of the plastic pipe being used.
