The ASHLAND WATER GROUP EFVSWPLG is a vertical piggyback float switch designed as a direct replacement for failed or worn internal switches on sump pumps. The switch uses a 10-foot tethered float that rises and falls with water level, signaling the pump to cycle on and off automatically. It installs between the pump power cord and the outlet, with the pump cord plugging directly into the back of the switch cord. A shunt plug is included for use when switch operation needs to be bypassed. This is a cost-effective service part for plumbers and pump technicians working on residential sump pump systems.
The EFVSWPLG is suited for residential sump pump applications where the original internal switch has failed and a quick, reliable external replacement is needed. The piggyback design requires no rewiring of the pump itself. The 10-foot tether allows for standard sump pit depths and provides adequate float travel for typical residential water level ranges. The vertical float action is appropriate for pits where tethered float movement is not obstructed.
Designed as a replacement piggyback float switch for residential sump pumps where the original switch has failed and the pump accepts an external piggyback-style switch connection.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or experienced pump technician. Before servicing, disconnect power to the sump pump at the circuit breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized before handling any electrical connections. Ensure the float has full range of vertical movement within the sump pit without obstruction before restoring power. Follow all applicable NEC requirements for wet-location electrical connections.
