The ASC Engineered Solutions EXD.NMC is a reducing pipe coupling designed to connect two different pipe sizes in a threaded piping system. It steps down from a 3/4-inch nominal pipe to a 1/2-inch nominal pipe using female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads on both ends. The fitting is constructed from malleable iron with a galvanized finish for corrosion resistance. Rated at 150 lb, it is built for use in low-pressure piping assemblies. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting in gas, water, and general-purpose fluid piping systems.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where a threaded reduction between 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch pipe is required. Common applications include branch line reductions in gas distribution, potable water systems, and steam or air piping operating within 150 lb class pressure limits. The domestic designation indicates this fitting is manufactured in the United States, which may be required on projects with domestic-content procurement specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded reducing coupling compatible with standard 3/4-inch x 1/2-inch NPT piping systems rated at 150 lb class.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus wrench turns appropriate for the pipe material. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as this can crack the fitting body.
