The ASC Engineered Solutions EXD.BMC is a malleable iron pipe reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different nominal sizes within a threaded piping system. Rated at 150 lb, this coupling features female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads on both ends, accepting a 3/4 inch nominal pipe on one side and a 1/2 inch nominal pipe on the other. The black finish is standard for malleable iron fittings used in gas, air, and similar non-potable service applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during new construction and service work on low-pressure piping systems.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where a threaded size transition is needed inline. Common applications include natural gas distribution lines, compressed air systems, and general-purpose black iron piping assemblies. The domestically manufactured construction meets expectations for fittings used in code-compliant installations requiring traceable, American-made components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch nominal threaded black iron piping systems rated at 150 lb service class.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly and tighten to a wrench-tight fit. Do not overtighten malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
