The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS GALTRED2212 is a galvanized malleable iron reducing tee designed for threaded pipe assemblies in gas, water, and general-purpose piping systems. Rated at 150 lb pressure class with a working pressure of 300 psi, this fitting accepts female National Pipe Taper threads on all three ports. The run measures 2 inches by 2 inches with a 1/2-inch branch outlet, making it well suited for branching off a main line to a smaller service line. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance in moderate-exposure environments. Domestic manufacture supports traceability requirements on commercial and municipal job sites.
This reducing tee is used in residential and commercial piping installations where a 2-inch main line requires a reduced 1/2-inch branch connection. Typical applications include natural gas distribution piping, compressed air systems, hydronic heating supply and return lines, and general industrial plumbing. The SCH 40 and standard wall compatibility makes it a common fit in new construction rough-in work and retrofit piping modifications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting in both above-ground and interior-exposed piping runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for SCH 40 and standard wall malleable iron threaded piping systems using 2-inch run pipe with a 1/2-inch branch outlet.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for the service fluid and pressure involved. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply a listed pipe thread compound or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns per standard pipefitting practice. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as the material is not as ductile as forged steel and can crack under excessive torque.
