The ASC Engineered Solutions DXC.NMC is a malleable iron pipe reducing coupling designed to connect two different pipe sizes in a threaded piping system. It transitions from a 1/2-inch nominal female thread to a 3/8-inch nominal female thread using standard FNPT end connections. Rated at 150 lb, this coupling is galvanized for corrosion resistance in both indoor and outdoor installations. It is manufactured domestically and suited for use by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on gas, water, and general-purpose piping systems where a reduction in pipe diameter is required.
This reducing coupling is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC piping, gas distribution, and general mechanical systems. The FNPT thread pattern is compatible with standard threaded pipe fittings and pipe of matching nominal size. Galvanized finish makes it a common choice in applications where moisture exposure is a concern or where the system calls for a zinc-coated fitting to match existing infrastructure.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 150 lb class threaded malleable iron piping systems using 1/2-inch and 3/8-inch nominal pipe.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before disassembling any fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before making up connections. Do not over-tighten FNPT connections, as malleable iron threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
