The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 8700129052 is a hexagon bushing made from malleable black iron, designed to reduce a 1/2-inch male threaded pipe connection down to a 3/8-inch female threaded port. This type of reducing bushing is a standard fitting used in low-pressure gas, steam, air, and water piping systems. The hex body provides wrench flats for secure installation with common hand tools. It meets Federal Specification WW-P-471-B and conforms to ANSI B-16.14 for dimensions and ANSI B-2.1 for pipe threads. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC techs regularly use this fitting when connecting differently sized piped components.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a threaded pipe size reduction is needed in-line without adding a coupling and nipple combination. Typical install scenarios include gas appliance drops, compressed air lines, steam heating systems, and general water distribution piping. The black iron material is appropriate for gas piping per applicable codes and for non-potable water applications. Sold individually as each unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard NPT threaded pipe systems requiring a 1/2-inch to 3/8-inch reduction in malleable black iron.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes including IFGC for gas piping applications. Shut off and depressurize the line before installing or replacing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or tape rated for the service medium before assembly. Do not overtighten; hand-snug and then wrench-tighten to seat threads without stressing the fitting body.
