The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 8700124053 is a 1/4 inch 90-degree malleable iron elbow, commonly referred to as a 1/4 bend, finished in galvanized flat-banded construction. This fitting is used to redirect pipe runs at a right angle in threaded piping systems. Manufactured from malleable iron to ASTM A-197 chemical and physical property standards, it delivers the ductility and impact resistance that installers depend on in mechanical and plumbing applications. The threaded ends conform to ANSI B-2.1 for NPT pipe threads, and overall dimensions meet ANSI B-16.3. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of standard black or galvanized iron pipe assemblies.
This elbow is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where a 90-degree change of direction is required in a 1/4 inch threaded line. Typical applications include gas distribution piping, steam and condensate lines, compressed air systems, and general-purpose water piping where malleable iron fittings are specified. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance appropriate for exposed or moderately wet environments. It meets Federal Specification WW-P-521F, making it suitable for federally specified construction and maintenance work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fitting for 1/4 inch NPT threaded malleable iron piping systems conforming to ANSI B-16.3 and Federal Specification WW-P-521F.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before cutting into any existing line or removing an existing fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before makeup, and tighten with pipe wrenches to a snug, leak-free connection without over-stressing the fitting. Pressure-test the completed assembly per local code requirements before returning the system to service.
