The ASC Engineered Solutions 3X2D.BMC is a malleable iron pipe reducing coupling designed to connect a 3-inch pipe to a 2.5-inch pipe in threaded piping systems. Both ends feature female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads, allowing a secure, leak-resistant connection between two different pipe sizes. Rated at 150 lb, this fitting is suited for moderate-pressure applications in gas, air, water, and steam service. The black finish is standard for malleable iron fittings used in gas distribution and general industrial piping. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of reducing coupling as a standard transition fitting.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial piping systems where a pipe run changes from 3-inch to 2.5-inch nominal size. Common applications include natural gas distribution piping, compressed air lines, and hydronic heating systems. The FNPT thread pattern conforms to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standards, making it compatible with standard threaded pipe and fittings found throughout commercial and residential mechanical systems. It is listed as a domestically manufactured fitting.
Designed as a standard 150 lb malleable iron threaded reducing coupling for use with 3-inch by 2.5-inch nominal FNPT threaded pipe systems in gas, air, water, and steam service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes including the IFGC and IPC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before installing or removing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to proper engagement using a pipe wrench. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the fitting or strip the threads.
