The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 390013977 is a FIG 7401 Rigidlok grooved rigid coupling designed for joining grooved-end pipe, fittings, and valves in large-diameter mechanical piping systems. Built from ductile iron with a rust inhibiting orange painted finish, this coupling is rated to 300 psi and handles temperatures from -40 to 230 degrees F. It accommodates 20 inch nominal pipe with a 20 inch OD and installs using four included zinc electroplated bolts and heavy hexagonal nuts. The Grade E EPDM flush gap green gasket provides a reliable seal in a wide range of fluid service applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of this heavy-duty coupling.
This coupling is engineered for use with roll grooved or cut grooved standard weight pipe as well as roll grooved lightweight pipe. It is also compatible with grooved-end fittings and valves. Typical installation scenarios include large-diameter commercial or industrial hydronic systems, fire protection mains, chilled water distribution, and process piping where a rigid, vibration-limiting mechanical joint is required. At 26-7/8 inches in length and weighing 68.3 pounds, this fitting is sized for heavy commercial and industrial work where 20 inch nominal grooved connections are specified.
Rated for use with roll grooved or cut grooved standard weight pipe and roll grooved lightweight pipe, as well as grooved-end fittings and valves at 20 inch nominal pipe size.
Installation should be performed by a licensed pipefitter or plumber in accordance with applicable mechanical codes and the manufacturer's assembly torque guidelines. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before disassembling or installing any grooved coupling. Confirm that pipe ends are properly grooved to the correct depth and width before seating the gasket and closing the coupling halves. Inspect the EPDM gasket for damage before installation and ensure bolt lubrication is applied as recommended to achieve uniform bolt load across both coupling halves.
