The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 300045002 is a black cast iron reducing tee designed for threaded pipe installations in plumbing, mechanical, and industrial piping systems. The fitting measures 1-1/2 inches by 3/4 inches by 1-1/2 inches, with the branch outlet reducing to 3/4 inch to accommodate smaller branch lines off a main run. Cast iron construction delivers the durability and rigidity required in commercial and industrial environments. The black coating provides a standard finish consistent with black iron pipe systems. At 2.18 pounds, the fitting carries the solid weight characteristic of domestic cast iron. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This reducing tee is suited for use in gas distribution piping, steam systems, water distribution, and general industrial piping where black iron pipe and fittings are specified. It is commonly installed in commercial mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, and industrial process lines where a branch takeoff of a reduced size is required. The 1-1/2 inch run with a 3/4 inch branch outlet makes this a common configuration for main-to-branch transitions in both new construction and retrofit applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use fitting for black iron threaded pipe systems using 1-1/2 inch and 3/4 inch nominal pipe sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing and mechanical codes, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where applicable. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as cast iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
