The ASC Engineered Solutions 2XE.NMC is a reducing pipe coupling designed to connect pipes of two different nominal diameters in threaded piping systems. Built from malleable iron with a galvanized finish, it transitions from a 2-inch nominal pipe to a 3/4-inch nominal pipe using female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. Rated at 150 lb, this coupling is suited for moderate-pressure applications in water, gas, and general mechanical piping systems. It is a domestically produced fitting intended for installation by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on commercial or residential systems.
This reducing coupling is commonly used in plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, compressed air lines, and general industrial piping where a threaded step-down connection between a 2-inch and 3/4-inch line is required. The galvanized malleable iron construction provides corrosion resistance for installations in wet or humid environments. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit work where threaded connections are the specified joining method.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard service fitting compatible with 150 lb class malleable iron threaded piping systems using FNPT connections at 2-inch and 3/4-inch nominal pipe sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the connection. Do not over-tighten threaded joints, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
