The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 2XD.BMC is a malleable iron pipe reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters in threaded piping systems. It transitions from a 2-inch nominal pipe on the larger end to a 0.5-inch nominal pipe on the smaller end, with female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. Rated at 150 lb, this coupling is built for standard-pressure gas, water, and steam piping applications. The black finish is the industry-standard treatment for gas piping fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting in both new construction and retrofit work.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial piping systems where a diameter reduction is needed within a threaded iron pipe run. Typical applications include natural gas distribution lines, steam heating systems, and water supply piping. The 2-inch-to-0.5-inch reduction makes it suitable for branch takeoffs or transitions to smaller service lines. Domestic manufacture supports compliance requirements on jobs with Buy American provisions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2-inch-to-0.5-inch nominal threaded iron pipe systems using NPT connections at 150 lb pressure class.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque.
