The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 2X1D.NMC is a malleable iron pipe reducing coupling designed to connect a 2-inch nominal pipe to a 1-1/2-inch nominal pipe in threaded piping systems. It features female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads on both ends for a secure, leak-resistant mechanical joint. Rated at 150 lb, this fitting is hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance in demanding environments. It is a domestically produced fitting suited for use by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on commercial and industrial piping assemblies.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, fire protection, and general industrial piping where a threaded reduction from 2 inches to 1-1/2 inches is required. Typical installations include supply and return piping headers, branch takeoffs, and inline size transitions where full-flow reduction is needed without an additional union or adapter. The galvanized finish makes it appropriate for wet, corrosive, or outdoor-adjacent installations.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement fitting for 150 lb malleable iron piping systems using 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch nominal FNPT connections in standard plumbing and piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns for the pipe size per standard practice. Do not overtighten malleable iron fittings, as excess torque can crack the fitting body.
