The ASC Engineered Solutions 1DXE.BML is a reducing 90-degree pipe elbow rated for 150 lb service, manufactured from black malleable iron. It features female national pipe taper (FNPT) threads on both ends and transitions from a 1-1/2 inch inlet to a 3/4 inch outlet. This fitting is designed to change flow direction while simultaneously reducing pipe size within threaded piping systems. It is domestically manufactured and suited for installation by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working on gas, water, or steam distribution systems.
This elbow is used in residential and light commercial piping applications where a 90-degree directional change and a pipe size reduction are needed in a single fitting. Common install scenarios include gas distribution headers, steam and hot water heating piping, compressed air lines, and general industrial plumbing. The FNPT thread pattern accepts standard NPT threaded pipe on both connections, making integration with existing black iron piping systems straightforward.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded black iron piping systems rated up to 150 lb service class.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable local codes, including IFGC and IPC requirements for gas and water piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before disassembling or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before assembly, and tighten to a snug, leak-free fit without overtightening malleable iron threads. Pressure-test the system after installation per local code requirements before returning to service.
