The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 300153400 is a black cast iron eccentric reducer designed for threaded pipe systems where maintaining a consistent bottom or top pipe alignment is required. Unlike concentric reducers, the eccentric design offsets the centerlines of the two openings, which prevents air pockets in liquid lines and allows proper drainage in horizontal runs. This fitting transitions from a 1-1/4 inch pipe to a 1/2 inch pipe and is suited for use by licensed plumbers in commercial and industrial piping applications. Weighing 0.88 pounds, it is a domestic-made fitting built to standard cast iron fitting tolerances.
This eccentric reducer is commonly used in water supply, steam, and general-purpose piping systems where a size reduction along a horizontal run must avoid trapping air or liquid. Its black coating makes it appropriate for above-ground and interior installations where corrosion exposure is limited. Plumbers and pipefitters select eccentric reducers over concentric styles when system drainage and venting characteristics matter to the design of the pipe run.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install threaded eccentric reducer for standard cast iron threaded pipe systems sized at 1-1/4 inches by 1/2 inches.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the pipe system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on all male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque cast iron fittings, as the material is brittle and can crack under excessive force.
