The ARROWHEAD BRASS PLUMBING 465-08QTLF is an 8-inch frost free yard hydrant built from red brass and rated lead free for potable water service. It accepts either a 1/2 inch female iron pipe (FIP) or 3/4 inch male iron pipe (MIP) inlet connection, giving installers flexibility when roughing in. The integrated Arrow Breaker vacuum breaker delivers twice the flow of standard vacuum breaker designs while generating less operating noise. A one-piece bonnet with a new O-ring seal design eliminates common leak points at the packing area. A heavy-duty metal handle secured with stainless steel screws rounds out the assembly for long service life in outdoor installations.
This hydrant is suited for residential and light commercial outdoor water supply applications where freeze protection is required. The 8-inch bury depth keeps the valve seat below the frost line in most moderate-climate zones. Typical install scenarios include irrigation stub-outs, livestock watering posts, commercial washing stations, and general-purpose outdoor hose bibs. The lead free construction meets requirements for potable water contact, making it appropriate for applications where drinking water or food-service hose connections may be used.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making any connections. Ensure the bury depth places the valve seat below the local frost line and that the drain port at the base of the hydrant is surrounded by gravel to allow proper drainage after each use. Do not cap or block the drain port, as this will defeat the frost-free function and may result in freeze damage.
