The ARROWHEAD BRASS PLUMBING 466-12QTLF is a freezeless wall hydrant with a 12-inch bury depth, designed for residential and light commercial exterior water supply applications. This lead-free hydrant features an integrated vacuum breaker that prevents backflow by stopping siphoning at the outlet when the supply is shut off. The unit connects via copper sweat or 3/4-inch female iron pipe (FIP) inlet, giving installers flexibility to tie into either copper or threaded iron piping systems. Plumbers install this hydrant to provide a freeze-protected outdoor faucet that automatically drains the supply tube when the handle is closed, keeping standing water out of the exposed section during freezing conditions.
The 466-12QTLF is suited for exterior wall installations where the frost line requires at least 12 inches of burial depth. Typical applications include residential single-family homes, light commercial buildings, irrigation connections, and utility hose bibs. The 12-inch depth makes it appropriate for moderate-freeze climates where standard shallow-depth hydrants would be vulnerable to freeze damage. Installers choose this unit when the rough-in piping terminates in either copper tubing or a 3/4-inch FIP threaded port.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation freezeless wall hydrant for residential and light commercial plumbing systems with 3/4-inch copper or threaded iron supply lines.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the main water supply and depressurize the line before beginning any connection work. When using the copper sweat inlet, ensure the pipe and fitting are clean and properly fluxed before soldering; do not apply heat near finished wall surfaces or combustible materials. Pitch the hydrant body slightly downward toward the outlet so the automatic drain can clear the barrel completely when the valve is closed.
