The ARO/INGERSOLL-RAND 20311-2 is a breather vent muffler designed for pneumatic systems where exhaust air noise and particulate discharge must be controlled at vent ports. It threads directly into a 1/4 inch Male NPT port and filters exhaust air through a 40-micron element, reducing noise and trapping contaminants before they enter the work environment. Constructed from stainless steel, the 20311-2 handles an operating temperature range of -25 degrees F to 200 degrees F, making it suitable for demanding industrial and production-floor pneumatic circuits. At 0.625 inches overall length, this is a compact inline solution for cylinder exhausts, directional control valves, and other pneumatic components with open vent ports.
This muffler is used wherever a pneumatic circuit requires a filtered, noise-dampened exhaust point. Typical applications include directional control valve exhaust ports, cylinder rod-end breather ports, and pneumatic timer or relay vent ports in light industrial, manufacturing, and automation environments. Licensed pneumatic system technicians and maintenance mechanics install this type of component during initial system assembly or as a replacement when an existing muffler becomes clogged or damaged. The small form factor fits installations where clearance around port connections is limited.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation breather vent muffler for pneumatic systems using 1/4 inch Male NPT exhaust or vent ports.
Installation is performed by a pneumatic system technician or qualified maintenance mechanic. Depressurize and lock out the pneumatic circuit completely before removing any existing muffler or fitting. Apply thread sealant appropriate for pneumatic service to the male NPT threads and tighten to snug using a 9/16 inch wrench - do not overtighten stainless steel threads into aluminum manifold bodies. Inspect the muffler element periodically and replace when airflow restriction or contamination buildup is evident.
