The ARMOR COAT UST235965 is a partially threaded socket cap screw engineered for high-strength fastening applications in mechanical assemblies, industrial equipment, and trade installations. It features a 3/8-16 thread size and a 3-1/4 inch length under head, making it suitable for through-bolting and tapped-hole connections that require a recessed drive profile. The hex socket drive accepts a 5/16 inch hex key for installation. Constructed from alloy steel with an Armor Coat finish, this screw is built to handle tensile loads in demanding service environments. It meets ASME B18.3 standards for socket cap screws.
This screw is used in a wide range of mechanical and structural fastening applications across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general industrial trades. The socket cap head sits flush or slightly proud of the mating surface and allows installation in confined spaces where a standard hex head wrench cannot be used. Partial threading provides improved clamping force in through-bolt applications by keeping the shank smooth through the clearance hole. A 5/16 inch hex key or T-handle wrench is the required drive tool.
Designed as a standard ASME B18.3 socket cap screw for use in any application requiring a 3/8-16 inch-series thread with a 3-1/4 inch length under head and a hex socket drive profile.
Installation is performed by mechanics, millwrights, pipefitters, or HVAC technicians using a 5/16 inch hex key or a calibrated torque wrench with a hex socket bit. Always de-energize and lock out equipment before fastening or removing hardware on mechanical or electrical assemblies. Do not substitute an incorrect hex key size, as rounding the socket drive can make removal difficult. Thread engagement, torque values, and lubricant requirements should be determined by the design engineer or equipment service manual for the specific application.
