The ARMACELL ARMA-TAP18230 is an AP Armaflex closed-cell elastomeric foam insulation tape designed for thermal insulation of pipes, fittings, and irregular surfaces. The tape measures 2 inches wide by 30 feet long with a 1/8-inch thickness and features a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing for direct application without additional adhesive. Made from black closed-cell elastomeric material, it resists mold growth and limits moisture vapor transmission. HVAC technicians and plumbers use it to reduce heat loss and control condensation drip on cold and hot pipe surfaces in a range of mechanical system applications.
This tape is suited for residential and light commercial mechanical systems where pipes, fittings, elbows, and tees require a flexible insulation solution. Its elastomeric construction conforms readily to curved and irregular surfaces, making it practical for areas where rigid insulation is difficult to fit. It is commonly installed by HVAC technicians and plumbers on refrigerant lines, chilled water piping, domestic cold water lines, and drain lines prone to condensation. The 30-foot roll length provides enough material to complete small-to-medium insulation jobs without splicing multiple rolls.
Designed as an OEM-style insulation tape for use on pipes and fittings in residential and light commercial HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration systems where closed-cell elastomeric tape insulation is specified.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or plumbers. Before applying, ensure the pipe or fitting surface is clean, dry, and free of oils or debris so the pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds properly. Wrap the tape with a slight overlap on each pass to eliminate gaps, especially at joints and elbows. Follow applicable mechanical codes and manufacturer guidelines for minimum insulation thickness requirements in your jurisdiction.
