The ARCAIR 22082003 is a high-grade, all-purpose copperclad pointed gouging electrode designed for the air carbon-arc process. Each electrode is formulated with a precise blend of carbon and graphite that delivers efficient metal removal and maintains a uniform diameter at the arc point. The controlled copper coating improves electrical conductivity, resulting in cooler operation and more consistent arc performance. Rated for 800 to 1000 amps at direct current electrode positive (reverse polarity), these electrodes are used by welders and metal fabricators across a wide range of gouging and metal removal tasks. This package contains 50 electrodes, each measuring 1/2 inch in diameter by 14 inches in length.
These electrodes are suited for fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, shipyards, and foundries. Typical applications include cutting U-grooves for weld joint preparation, removing old or defective welds, gouging out cracks, cleaning and repairing castings, removing hard surface material, and rough machining. The pointed tip geometry is optimized for precision gouging in tight or detailed work areas.
Designed for use with air carbon-arc gouging equipment operating on direct current electrode positive (DCEP) settings. Suitable across fabrication, maintenance, repair, shipyard, and foundry environments where air carbon-arc gouging is performed.
Air carbon-arc gouging must be performed by qualified welders or metal fabricators familiar with the process and applicable workplace safety standards. Before starting, verify that the gouging unit is set to direct current electrode positive and that the air supply pressure and flow rate meet the equipment requirements. Always use appropriate personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, and hearing protection, as the process generates significant noise, spatter, and fumes. Ensure adequate ventilation or local exhaust is in place before beginning work.
