The APPLETON SR-9-505 is a 1/2-inch cord connector designed to secure flexible cord in conduit, enclosures, and electrical boxes. It accepts cord diameters in the 0.4 to 0.5 inch range, providing a firm, strain-relieving grip at the entry point. Electricians use this fitting where a cord must pass through a knockout and be mechanically protected at the termination. The connector maintains the integrity of the raceway system by keeping the entry point closed around the cord.
This connector is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where flexible cord enters a junction box, panel enclosure, or conduit body through a 1/2-inch knockout. It is a common fitting in branch-circuit wiring, control panel builds, and equipment hookups. Licensed electricians install this type of connector as part of NEC-compliant cord termination practices.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock cord connector for use in 1/2-inch knockout openings on electrical enclosures, junction boxes, and conduit bodies.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize all circuits and verify voltage absence with a meter before working inside any enclosure. Insert the connector body through the knockout, secure the locknut hand-tight then snug with pliers, and tighten the cord clamp screw to achieve a firm grip without cutting into the cord jacket. Follow applicable NEC requirements for cord termination and strain relief.
