The APPLETON IBC-400LS-20AC is a 4-inch insulated grounding bushing designed for use in electrical conduit installations. This fitting provides a smooth, insulated throat that protects wire and cable insulation from damage at conduit terminations while simultaneously establishing a grounding path. It is installed at the end of a rigid metal conduit (RMC) or intermediate metal conduit (IMC) where conductors enter enclosures, panels, or junction boxes. Licensed electricians install this fitting as part of a compliant grounding system in commercial, industrial, and heavy-duty residential electrical work.
This insulated grounding bushing is suited for 4-inch conduit terminations on panelboards, motor control centers, switchgear enclosures, and pull boxes where both conductor protection and equipment grounding continuity are required. It is commonly specified in commercial and industrial installations where NEC grounding requirements must be met at conduit entry points. The bushing accepts a grounding conductor lug connection, making it appropriate for bonding applications in compliance with National Electrical Code requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit insulated grounding bushing for 4-inch rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit systems in commercial and industrial electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before installing or removing conduit fittings at any enclosure entry point. Thread the bushing fully onto the conduit end and secure the grounding conductor to the lug terminal before closing the enclosure. Inspect the insulated throat for damage before installation to ensure conductor insulation protection is not compromised.
