The APPLETON GRX125 is a Style X explosionproof conduit outlet box designed for hazardous location wiring installations. Built from zinc electroplated dichromate epoxy powder coated malleable iron, this round box provides four external side hubs at 1-1/4 inch size and a 31 cubic inch internal capacity. The externally threaded cover opening measures 3.94 inches in diameter. Malleable iron construction delivers high tensile strength, ductility, and resistance to corrosion, impact, and shock. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians install this fitting where code requires explosionproof enclosures in classified areas.
The GRX125 is rated for Class I Division 1 and 2 Group B, C, and D atmospheres and Class II Division 1 and 2 Group E, F, and G environments, as well as Class III locations. It also meets NEMA 3 and 4 ratings for raintight service. Typical applications include general purpose wiring, pulling wire through conduit runs, connecting conduit lengths, changing conduit direction, and providing maintenance access points in industrial, petrochemical, and other hazardous-duty installations.
Rated for Class I Division 1 and 2 Group B, C, and D; Class II Division 1 and 2 Group E, F, and G; Class III; and NEMA 3 and 4 enclosure applications. Approved to UL 886 and CSA C22.2. Designed as part of the Appleton Unilet GR series outlet box system and accepts externally threaded covers for the 3.94 inch cover opening.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes for hazardous classified locations. De-energize all circuits and verify lockout/tagout procedures are complete before opening or installing any explosionproof fitting. Do not substitute non-rated covers or fittings — all mating components must carry the same or compatible hazardous location ratings. Conduit entries must be sealed as required by NEC Article 501 for the applicable division and group.
