The APPLETON EDSF23WQ is a front-operated, explosionproof tumbler switch control station rated for 20 amps and 120 to 277 volts AC. Built with a malleable iron enclosure, it carries NEMA 7BCD/9EFG ratings and meets Class I Div 1 and 2 Group B C D, Class II Div 1 and 2 Group E F G, and Class III hazardous location requirements. The 3-way contact configuration and sealed switch chamber are engineered to prevent arcing of the enclosed switch during connect and disconnect operations in ignitable atmospheres. Licensed electricians install this unit in classified areas where ignitable vapors, gases, or highly combustible dusts are present.
The EDSF23WQ is designed for use in chemical plants, petrochemical plants, refineries, and other process industry facilities that require control station hardware rated for classified electrical environments. Its 1-gang, front-operated design fits standard conduit installations where a compact, durable switching station is needed for lighting and light power load control in wet, rain-tight, or otherwise demanding outdoor or indoor industrial locations.
Rated for use in NEC/CEC classified areas under UL 894/1203 approval. Enclosure meets NEMA 7BCD/9EFG for Class I Div 1 and 2 Group B C D, Class II Div 1 and 2 Group E F G, and Class III environments. Designed as an OEM-style control station cover assembly for use with the Contender series front-operated tumbler switch platform.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for classified hazardous locations, including applicable Articles 500 through 516. De-energize and lock out all circuits before opening the enclosure or making wiring connections. Verify that conduit seals are installed per NEC Article 501 where required by the classification of the area. Do not install in locations exceeding the rated voltage or current without verifying the full system load against the 20-amp rating.
