The APPLETON BLG-0522 is a 1/2-inch insulated grounding bushing designed for use in electrical conduit installations where a reliable ground path and conductor protection are required. This type of fitting threads onto the end of rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit at enclosure knockouts, providing both a grounding lug for bonding and an insulated throat that protects wire insulation from the sharp edges of the conduit end. It is installed by licensed electricians during panel, junction box, and equipment enclosure terminations.
Insulated grounding bushings are standard hardware in commercial and industrial electrical work wherever rigid or IMC conduit terminates at a metallic enclosure. The 1/2-inch trade size suits branch circuit and feeder conduit runs commonly found in light commercial buildouts, industrial control panels, and service entrance work. The fitting allows the installer to bond the conduit system to the equipment grounding conductor without relying solely on the mechanical conduit connection for continuity.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fitment insulated grounding bushing for 1/2-inch rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit terminations at metallic enclosures.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for grounding and bonding of metal conduit systems. De-energize all circuits in the enclosure before installing or terminating conduit fittings. Thread the bushing snugly onto the conduit end and torque by hand or with strap wrench until seated firmly against the enclosure wall, then terminate the equipment grounding conductor to the lug per the NEC. Inspect the insulated throat for damage before use to ensure conductor protection is maintained.
