The APPLETON A1 is a 1/2-inch plastic connector designed for securing nonmetallic sheathed (NM) cable at box entry points. It provides a firm, code-compliant termination that keeps cable properly seated and protected at the knockout. The connector is constructed of plastic and is intended for use in residential and light commercial wiring applications. Licensed electricians and apprentices routinely install this type of fitting during rough-in and finish electrical work where NM cable is the wiring method of choice.
This connector is suited for residential new construction, remodels, and panel or device box installations where 1/2-inch knockouts are standard. It accepts NM cable and secures it at the point of entry to prevent abrasion and maintain a clean, compliant installation. Its lightweight plastic construction makes it easy to handle during high-volume installs where multiple connectors are needed across a single job.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit connector for 1/2-inch knockout openings in residential electrical boxes, junction boxes, and load centers where NM cable wiring methods are used.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify with a meter before working inside any enclosure. Insert the connector through the knockout opening, seat the locknut firmly by hand, and tighten with a screwdriver or appropriate tool to prevent cable movement. Do not over-tighten plastic fittings, as this may crack the body or deform the cable sheath.
