The APPLETON 856-150 is a square tile ring designed to extend and finish electrical outlet boxes in tiled or raised-surface wall and ceiling installations. This fitting raises the box opening flush with the finished surface, allowing cover plates and devices to seat properly after tile, drywall, or other surface materials have been applied over the rough-in box. It is a standard component in commercial and residential electrical rough-in work and is installed by licensed electricians during finish-out. The 856-150 fits a 4-11/16 inch square box configuration and ships at 0.59 pounds.
This tile ring is suited for use in wall and ceiling installations where a surface finish layer adds depth between the electrical box and the finished plane. Common applications include tiled bathroom and kitchen walls, suspended ceiling systems, and any installation where the final surface is applied after the electrical box is set. Electricians use tile rings during the finish phase to bring device openings to the correct depth before installing receptacles, switches, or blank covers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit tile ring for 4-11/16 inch square electrical outlet boxes used in commercial and residential rough-in applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before handling any box hardware. The tile ring is typically fastened to the existing square box before or after surface material is applied, depending on the installation sequence. Work must conform to applicable NEC requirements for box fill, cover, and device mounting.
