The APPLETON 356-R is a conduit reducing bushing designed to transition from a 4-inch trade size conduit opening to a 3-inch trade size conduit entry. Reducing bushings like this one are installed inside a larger knockout or hub to accept conduit of a smaller trade size, eliminating the need to replace an enclosure or fitting with a different hub size. This fitting is a standard component in electrical raceway systems and is typically installed by licensed electricians during panel, enclosure, or junction box work. It measures approximately 5.4 inches by 5.3 inches by 3.4 inches and weighs 3.24 pounds.
This reducing bushing is suited for use in commercial and industrial electrical installations where conduit size transitions are required at enclosures, pull boxes, or distribution panels. It is commonly used when existing enclosures have large trade size hubs that must accept smaller-diameter conduit runs. Applications include new construction wiring, service entry work, and retrofit or renovation projects where conduit routing requires a size change at a fitting point.
Designed as an OEM-style reducing bushing for 4-inch to 3-inch trade size conduit transitions in standard electrical enclosures, junction boxes, and pull boxes.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize all circuits and lock out the enclosure before beginning work, in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout/tagout procedures. The bushing threads or seats into the existing hub opening; ensure the fit is secure and the bushing is fully seated before pulling or terminating conduit. Do not force oversized conduit through the reduced opening.
