The APPLETON 339-R is a threaded reducing bushing designed to step down conduit or fitting threads from a 2.5-inch opening to a 1-inch connection. Reducing bushings of this type are standard hardware in electrical conduit systems, allowing installers to transition between different trade sizes within a raceway or enclosure without replacing entire fittings. The 339-R is a compact, solid fitting used in both new construction and retrofit work. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers, using it wherever a conduit run changes trade size at a junction box, enclosure knockout, or coupling point.
This reducing bushing is suited for use in commercial and industrial electrical installations where rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit systems require a size transition. It fits standard threaded conduit entries and enclosure knockouts. The fitting is appropriate for dry, damp, or location-specific applications consistent with its listed ratings. It is commonly installed at panelboards, junction boxes, and pull boxes where multiple conduit sizes converge.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock reducing bushing for use with 2.5-inch to 1-inch threaded conduit systems in commercial and industrial electrical applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and lock out the panel before working in any enclosure or junction box. Thread the bushing hand-tight into the knockout or fitting, then snug with an appropriate pipe wrench or strap wrench. Do not overtighten, as this may damage threads on the mating conduit or enclosure.
