The APPLETON 331-R is a threaded reducing bushing designed for use in electrical conduit systems where a larger conduit opening must be adapted to accept a smaller conduit or fitting. This bushing steps down from a 2-inch female thread to a 1-1/2-inch male thread, allowing electricians to transition between conduit sizes without requiring additional couplings or adapters. Weighing 0.51 pounds, it is a compact, solid fitting suited for standard conduit installations in commercial and industrial electrical work. Licensed electricians and experienced electrical contractors are the typical installers of this type of conduit hardware.
The 331-R reducing bushing is used in rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) installations where conduit size reductions are needed at junction boxes, enclosures, or panel knockouts. It is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor conduit runs in commercial, industrial, and utility environments where a secure, threaded reduction fitting is required to maintain raceway integrity.
Designed as an OEM-style reducing bushing for use with 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch threaded rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit fittings and enclosures.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for conduit fittings and raceways. De-energize all circuits and shut off power at the panel before working on any conduit system. Hand-thread the bushing into the larger opening until snug, then use an appropriate strap wrench or conduit fitting tool to secure without over-tightening the threads. Inspect threads on both the bushing and the receiving fitting for damage before installation to ensure a proper seal and mechanical connection.
