The APEX 82263 is a phosphate-coated alloy steel cold chisel designed for cutting through metal in demanding trade applications. At 5.5 inches in length and weighing 0.18 pounds, it is a compact, single-piece hand tool built for controlled impact work. The cutting end features a precision-hardened point engineered for edge retention under repeated strikes. The strike end is softened and tapered to reduce mushrooming and chipping during use, extending the service life of both the tool and the user's safety margin.
This cold chisel is suited for mechanical and general trade work where stuck, seized, or damaged fasteners need to be removed or cut free. It is particularly effective on rusted bolts, damaged nuts, and shear-pin rivets where conventional wrenching tools cannot get purchase. The phosphate coating provides a measure of corrosion resistance during storage and field use. Machinists, auto technicians, ironworkers, and maintenance professionals will find it useful across a range of metal-cutting and fastener-removal tasks.
Designed as a general-purpose cold chisel for use with standard ball-peen or engineer hammers in mechanical, automotive, and maintenance trade applications.
Cold chisels are driven with a ball-peen or engineer hammer — never a finish or claw hammer, which can shatter. Always wear ANSI-rated eye protection when striking any chisel. Inspect the strike end before each use and discard or redress the tool if mushrooming or cracking is present. Secure the workpiece firmly before chiseling to prevent movement during impact.
