The APEX 00047NN is a 10-inch Aluminum Type A flat file designed for aggressive material removal on aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. It features a double cut pattern on both faces, which creates a crosshatch tooth arrangement that shears material quickly and clears chips efficiently. The file is hard stamped for permanent size and type identification. At 0.2 inches thick and 1 inch wide, the flat profile fits standard filing tasks on flat and slightly curved workpiece surfaces. This tool is sold without a handle and is installed by machinists, pipefitters, fabricators, and general tradespeople working with aluminum stock, castings, or extrusions.
The 00047NN is suited for use on aluminum components in HVAC fabrication, electrical enclosure work, plumbing rough-in, and general metal shop applications. The double cut face pattern makes it appropriate for fast stock removal rather than fine finishing. Its flat shape handles edge dressing, slot opening, and surface leveling on workpieces that require an aggressive first-pass cut before transitioning to finer abrasives or mill files. The 10-inch file length gives adequate stroke range for most bench and field filing tasks encountered in the trades.
Designed as a standard Type A flat file for use on aluminum and non-ferrous metals; compatible with any standard file handle sized for a 10-inch flat file tang.
Always seat the file in a properly fitted handle before use to prevent tang injury. Secure the workpiece in a vise before filing to maintain control and consistent stroke angle. File in the forward stroke direction only, lifting on the return to extend tooth life. Keep the file clear of ferrous metals to avoid embedding steel particles that can contaminate aluminum surfaces on subsequent use.
