The ANVIL 0362000408 is a 1/4 inch Class 3000 black 90 degree socket weld elbow machined from forged carbon steel. It is engineered for high-pressure piping systems where a direction change is required at a 90 degree angle. The socket weld end connection accepts pipe into a recessed socket before welding, producing a strong, leak-resistant joint suited for demanding service conditions. Rated to 3000 psi, this fitting meets ASME B16.11 dimensional standards and ASTM A105 and ASTM A182 material requirements. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting in steam, oil, gas, and hydraulic piping systems where threaded fittings are not adequate for the service pressure.
This elbow is used in industrial and commercial piping applications that require forged steel fittings rated for Class 3000 pressure service. Typical installations include process piping, steam distribution lines, compressed gas headers, and high-pressure hydraulic runs. The 1/4 inch size is common in instrument piping, branch connections, and small-bore service lines. The black finish indicates an uncoated carbon steel surface appropriate for systems where paint or galvanizing is not specified or required. Schedule 80 compatibility makes it suitable for use with standard heavy-wall pipe in these applications.
Designed as an OEM-style forged steel socket weld fitting compatible with 1/4 inch Schedule 80 pipe in Class 3000 pressure piping systems conforming to ASME B16.11.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or welder holding appropriate certifications per applicable mechanical and pressure piping codes, including ASME B31.1 or B31.3 as applicable to the system. Shut down and fully depressurize the piping system before cutting into any line. The pipe end must be inserted to the socket stop and a small gap left before welding per ASME B16.11 requirements. Do not use this fitting with threaded connections in place of socket weld joints.
